Alcohol and Training

What's up guys. What does alcohol do exactly to one's training just the weight lifting aspect, I.E. defintion, strength? I know it affects the conditioning aspect, but what does it affect besides that? Btw, I am on anabolic superdrol right now, just started like 2 days ago, but I only drink like every month and a half, I'm just concerned b/c it is getting close to spring break, thanks fellas

From personal experience if I train the next day after a long night of drinking my strength decreases significantly.

yeah it bothers you in many ways its hard for me not to drink a little once a week just cause of the people im around all the time. I find that if i keep my diet good that night which is hard as shit to do then the next morning i dont get hangovers so i just hit the gym and nock out about 45 minutes of cardio. drink plenty of water and i never notice i might be farther down the road lifting wise if i quit but it doesnt bother me a ton.

Well it also depends on the amount of alcohol you consume at any given nite, i'm a social drinker and i can drink about 3 beers and should be fine, just for the socializing aspect,...Some people say they don't see a change in their routine and some will be affected highly...It's just based on individual results...

Its hard for me to enjoy drinking while im on. Im just too worried about the damage im doing to my liver.

pjt is correct. This has been proven in studies that alcohol can reduce your strenth the next day. I will save you the scientific explanation. But hey alcohol can be fun and is a safe part of any diet if respected properly.

the dehydration and extra calories wreak havoc on your diet as well as the previously mentioned strength loss and liver damage, you can also add kidney damage into that as well. Keep in mind that a night of drinking has effects on your system for much longer than that one night. It can take your body and muscles up to 3-4 days to replace all of the nutrients and water lost and will fuck up your trianing for those days not to mention what you probably end up eating that night and the next morning...

Alcohol use inhibits protein synthesis. The inhibitory effect of alcohol is most pronounced in fast twitch muscle fibers, especially after prolonged alcohol use. Protein synthesis is essential for muscle growth and development, and muscle recovery. Thus, fast muscle recovery is more critical during supplementation of a/s or creatine insulin, hgh etc. A/S increase protein synthesis thus making alchohol consumption while using counteractive component of your hopes to gain muscle while using gear.

Alcohol adversely influences the anabolic properties of both, Insulin and Growth Hormone. Most of the anabolic effects initiated by Growth Hormone are mediated by IGF-1. These hormones are essential for inducing muscle protein synthesis after exercise. Alcohol causes insulin-resistance as well as hinders the release of Growth Hormone from the brain. Chronic alcohol consumption also reduces our IGF-1 levels and these combined effects will slow muscle development and mitigate our response to supps like creatine gear etc or anything that stimulates protein synthesis.

Not only this the excess carbohydrates you consume through alchohol consumption will be stored as fat if not used as energy just like anything else. Its said that after a night of indulging yourself with alchohol ones body can not process fat properly for up to 72 hours. My take even though i like to have my grey goose and petron with red bull is alchohol is not worth it if your serious about both your health and are trying to achieve your maximum potential where muscle growth is concerned.
