I've read some info that was really similar to this. I think there was a guy playing for some team (I think in Arizona?) that worked out like this. He would literally throw the barbell up in the air and catch it again. This guy could bench an unbelievable amount of weight for his bodyweight.
yeah I read something similar last year about performing them on a smith machine so you don't kill yourself or someone else if you fuck up. Interesting way to think, for years dumbell jump squats have been used to increase your squat so why not apply the same method.
