too much cardio

I work at a restaurant and work about 5-11 hour shifts a day and just found out that I have been walking on average 5 miles a day at work. no wonder its difficult for me to add mass.

So then perhaps you don't need to do any additional cardio if you have been doing it.

o no! I never do any cardio unless Im playing sports. But I work six days a week, it puts a hurt on my body when im trying to bulk

as long as you're eating regularly and just walking it shouldn't be hindering you. Like TK said you probably don't need to add any cardio to your routine at all but I don't think it would be stopping you from gaining mass if you've been doing it for a period of time your body will adapt to it

or maybe have a large meal b4 work with a shitload of carbs. I am sure you get a break and lunch. So there's two meals of high protein you could throw in. good luck

the ticklish guys got a good point, eat up! To be perfectly honest I don't really consider walking to be cardio because your heart rate won't really rise very much. Even if you're hustling around all day at a fairly quick pace and getting your heart rate up your body will simply adapt to that new level of stress and your heart will get stronger and your HR will not rise. These adjustments happen much quicker than you think and your new resting heart rate will be lower because your heart is now stronger.

Fuck it, you said you work at a restaurant, everyone that came in would be like "what the fuck? this doesn't look like the picture, hey why is half my milkshake gone," mass no problem..

if your not adding mass, your not eating enough at the right times, its that simple!!! its a 24/7 conscienceness of knowing you have to eat to grow. if you tend to be leaner, add in some high numbered meals, ie, cals, carbs , fats,pro...in that order, with like pizza, cheesburgers, and pretty much anything. along with a sound diet and training plan you should grow like a weed

well, u would think that we get breaks to eat, but no, we don't. I have just started eating a shitload of carbs before work which seems to keep my weight stable. I mean just think, working a 10 hour shift with no food can burn the muscle you are trying to keep

where do you work that they don't give you a break to eat? that is against the law my friend. If you work for any length of time they need to have established breaks for the length of your shift, even if you only work for 4 or 5 hours you still need a 15 minute or 30 minute break. There's no way they can tell you that you can't take a break to eat, look it up on any labor law site

there is no such thing as too much cardio as long you are adding in the proper calories to make up for it

Exactly.

This is true though it could vary a bit from state to state.

I know you are supposed to get breaks to eat, but I really dont know how the law is on bartenders or servers. I have worked at 2 diff places and they were both the same way. you constantly have guest so there is no way you can take a break. Management doesnt give a rats ass about us, all they are worried about is that bonus they get

Most waitresses and servers that I've seen get breaks. I'm sure there are other places here where I live that are like your place. Sounds like it really sucks.

You should ask your manager about it, maybe he thinks ur naive and is trying to take advantage of it by making u work. Like MikeS said, look it up online on a labor site for your state or just ask ur town hall. You dont have to deal with that shit.
