P.S. tried to make this a poll, but obviously that didn't work. Is that something I can do??

Sometimes I like to blow threw a workout, not really resting more than 20 seconds. Sometimes I want to really put up some heavy numbers on my lifts so I go for like 2 minutes in between sets. I do think its important to switch it up from time to time because just like high reps vs. high weights you need to keep your muscles guessing.

For a long time I used to just stick to 1 minute rest periods, I found that I was unable to keep up with friends with shorter rest periods. During a workout all there lifts would go up in weight, while mine would really begin to fall after a few sets. Cardio helps a little bit with this, but unless your swimming, its hard to get endurance for upper body.- I think thats what your achieving with smaller rest periods.

spring summer I go no more than 1 min. usually 30-45 sec, but the weight is light. Fall winter, I take my time usually a 2 minute min, but the weight is increased. I tailor it to what I want, fast to cut and slow it down to gain.

I normally rest 120 sec. (2 min) because I have to. I have a condition in which I produce too much insulin in response to heavy exercise so I have to let my body rest more than the average guy. It's called 'exercise-induced hypoglycemia,' and I've had it since high school. If I make sure I have extra carbs before working out, I have been able to reduce to 90 sec or 60 sec.

I'd say at least 2 minutes between sets, except warmups maybe.

for example, I only do like 6 sets for legs and 3 for calves. so thats only 9 total working sets for leg day and it takes about an hour. Sometimes I will take up to 4-5 minutes when doing very heavy squats or deadlifts. Plus I have a workout partner so that slows it down a little.

i usually wait about a minute and a half or so unless as mentioned leg day heavy on squats or deads then about 3 to 4. I do about 12 working sets per muscle no partner so my reg. workouts only take about 45 minutes to an hour tops.

I take no longer than 60 seconds betwee set. I have read and seen a study or two that say the longer you rest, the less blood flow you have going into the muscles because they have to much time to recooperate causing the loss of the pump. After the first 45 seconds I believe your muscles have recovered as much as they will which if I am not mistaken is 72%. I try not to take any longer thn a minute between sets unless I just absoluetly have to.

Currently I am taking about 20-30 seconds between each set. I'll throw in some crunches in between to keep my self from cooling down at all. At this time Im trying to shed some BF obviously LOL

I think it's good to vary rest periods. If dieting, shorter rests keeps the metabolism moving faster and can keep you off the treadmill a bit.

As long as it takes for my partner to do her set then add weight to my exercise then go for it. Probably like a minute to 90 seconds.

I used to be very specific with the time between sets. Nowadays, I kinda just know when I'm ready.

Sometimes a couple of minutes and sometimes the time it takes to get to the next
apperatis. Sometimes I like to hit it heavy and fast to get the cardio thing going.
If I am not doing DC then it depends on what I feel like that day.
