Cardio and nutrient timing

Fellas, quick opinion on this please :) If one were to do cardio after lifting, say after a 45-60 min wo, would you want to eat (or have a shake) between the lifting and cardio? I am trying to trim a bit and I am doing some cardio after lifting. WHen in pre-contest mode I simply take some aminos and go without the carbs/ protien. Anybody have any advice on this. I don't want to miss the nutrient window after lifting, yet I need to get the cardio in...

I would at least take in some protien, if you want to burn calories on an empty stomach simply do your cardio when you first wake up.

you should never not have carbs after training with weights, even on the lowest of carb days. you can wait until after cardio for pro/carbs. or do it in the am.

I'm not sure I understand your post. Are you saying that one should have carbs after training with weights, and have protein/carbs after the cardio in kdog's case?

If i understand your question. You should not do cardio after your work out unles you just cant do it in the morning. After working out you have a window of about 30-45 mnts to feed your muscles with protein and carbs. Otherwise you just wasted a work out in my opinion. If you want to work out and then eat something right after to help with your cardio. I am not sure that would help besides how can you run with your stomach full of liquid? Again if you cant do cardio in the morning maybe you should do cardio eod and work out in between.

DB is right
thats when your body needs the carbs the most

ive always done cardio separately from weights. I feel they are different form of training and for different muscles (weights = bicep, chest, etc. and cardio = heart) so I think they each need their own workout schedule.

besides, after weights, Im too tired to do cardio. It would be a half ass shitty effort and I know it.

basically........am cardio is the most efficient. if you cant do it then, you should only do it on low carb days, postworkout. but even on low days, you need to have some carbs pwo, no matter what time it is. wait until your done training with wieghts and cardio, to get your pwo nutrition.

What would you suggest then for someone like me that gets up for work at 350am and starts work at 430 and gets home around noon or 1 pm? I normally do cardio at night between 7 and 745 before i pass out at 830 3-4 times a week.

i would set your diet up having 3-4 lower days, and doing am cardio on just those days, if possible. so as many off work days as possible, and then pwo on other days. make sense?? keep in mind still having some carbs pwo/cardio.

if you work everyday then, try do it as late as possible before bed, and have your bedtime protein post cardio. so you would probably have pwo nutrition, dinner, cardio and bedtime pro.

Thanks DB, mikes right though, i work 7 days a week for now so i can make enough money to not work when i get back to school. I understand AM cardio is the best time, but i just cant get up at 2am to do it LOL. I wish i could but if i didmy body just wouldnt get enought rest and i would just crash and end up overtraining real quick. i also need to have a decent amount of carbs in the am to make it through work, its a VERY physical job. Any other way i can about this DB?

AHHHH i see, i totally missed this one before i posted that last replay. That looks about right and what Ive been doing. Thank you very much DB for your input, i appriciate it. I just wanted to make sure i wasnt taking any steps backwards. i do my cardi at 7 pm to 745pm and have a good PWO shake right after i get back, shower and then check MC :) and then hit that sac at 830 most nights, excpet for tonight since i needed to go see my father in the hospital.

Thanks again DB
