So yesterday I am at the gym doin my chest workout. I get to incline dumbells and as I am puting the weight up for the first rep and my forearm gets injured. I could hear the mucle in my forearm tighten up as it happened. I am not sure if its torn or not. There wasnt any shooting pain in fact it didnt hurt much at all right after it happened. But offcourse I woke up this morning and it was killin me. I am using iceyhot on it and taking motron and it seems to be getting better. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this happen to them and what you guys think I should do.

Thanks

You may want to lay off the weights for a bit, or maybe just exercise lower body so you don't feel like crap for not working out. Sounds like you may possibly want to see a doctor.

yeah if you heard somethin or felt it "tear or somethin" then i would go see a doc. I know it didnt hurt right then but i totally ruptured my biceps tendon long head and didnt hurt at all i just felt it rip then the next day was a different story and about a softball size bruise.

Yea I am considering seeing a doctor. There is no brusing and barely any swelling though. I may wait a few days to see how it goes though. I was thinking of still working my legs but it would be dificult with just one arm. Considering the exercises I do involves arms in some way or another.

extentions curls hack squats, dont need hands really or arms, leg press you can get a hole leg workout in with no arms i used to after my shoulder surgery.

I would definitely see a doc, the adrenaline and endorphins running through you while working out usually will mask the pain in an injury like this. A doc will be able to do some simple tests to determine what kind of injury it is and the severity of it. A forearm injury can be very serious and take a long time to heal so I would hit the doc sooner than later if I were you. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the advice guys. Its day two and I have almost no pain at all even when I squeeze somthing. I am going to give it atleast 2 weeks before I touch any weights again. I still may see a doctor. But it seems to be recovering fast. It wasnt stiff or swolen this morning.

take some pain pills and rub it down with some icy hot and soak it in the bath the ice it. Get back to the gym no time to miss a day.....

glad to hear it's not bothering you and you are doing the right thing by resting for a week or two, forearm injuries are hard to heal and sometimes will feel fine day to day until you are in a lifting position and you'll set yourself further back if you try to get back to the gym too quickly.

Do not take any pain medication becuase you'll mask your bodies warning system while at the gym. Ice and or heat treatments are specific to the injury and I wouldn't do either until you are sure of what you've done to yourself because you could prolong the recovery period

Dam - there have been times when the only way I could work out was with
a handfull of Alieve. (probably not the smartest) Hot and cold is funny because
everyone has different advice. I usually go with my gut instinct w/the pain.
Either I can or I cant lift. (yeah, I've had some ailments last longer then they
probably should have. Never said I was the smartest)
Laying off is probably the smartest but we are a stuborn bunch.

It's true laying off is hard to do but I think we've all learned the lesson the hard way by trying to come back too soon.

HOw's the forearm bro?

Its doing realy well way better than I expected. Friday I was driving and the guy in front of me jammed his brakes on the hwy to keep a cop from seeing his plates and I slamed the horn not thinking about my arm. I felt fine no pain or anything. I am still giving it the full two weeks of though. Thanks for askin
