Hello!

I'm am new to the site, but am a member of various other sites. I came to this site because after much research, and some experience I have decided to pursue the homebrew approach. If anything I say is off the mark, feel free to edit or ignore, but I think It should be OK...I'm pretty familiar with protocol.
So I am interested in getting "granulated product"....from an overseas individual in a land "far far and away".....I have talked to a few of these individuals, and have been quoted prices that are very, very different. For instance some are offering the grains at a few bucks per gram, and others are offering it at near a hundred. Why such the price difference? I mean this is a HUGE price difference. Have any of you gotten something that was less then kosher? How do you feel confident about putting something in your body when you have no way of knowing what it is - unless you pay cash to have it tested?
Any indication at how many checkels you are paying..etc..etc..

Just looking for some solid knowledge before I send off some greenbacks to a land far far away.

Thanks for any help.

welcome...not many homebrewers on this site. Those that do, dont source or anything so may not be able to help alot. As you know, personal use quantity pricing differs greatly from bulk.

I need a site with more homebrewing action.

I'm not looking for any sourcing info. I guess it may be that one individual is allowing me to have a test run, and the other is not....I don't know. The price discrepancy is huge, and it has me wondering if one of them is legit or not. Guess I should go with the ultra cheap one - so if it does go bad - then it doesn't go REALLY bad. :).

I wanted to do the homebrewing thing for the control, the affordability, and just the fun of doing it - but If it's going to cost as much as I can get it legit then - I'm not sure if it's going to be THAT much fun.

Bro, your circumspection is cracking me up. But that's good. There's no need to be overt here.
Buying raw materials, in any business, is always a problem. It doesn't matter if it's from next door or halfway around the world. My experience is that I have sometimes obtained the totally wrong thing from local suppliers.
You have to somehow test it, and that's just a fact, no matter how far away it comes from. It doesn't matter if we're talking about acetylsalicylic acid or potassium phosphate. A reliable supplier will usually deliver the right thing, but you will go to hell in a hand basket if you don't double check in some way.
I wish I could recommend something better than melting point tests.

Now, if someone would just make a cheap Infrared Spectrometer that hooked up to your computer all our problems would be solved! ha ha :)

BTW I though the real problem with the sending of the greenbacks was that you might never see them again!
