growth hormone release question

Alright well after you workout you take carbs to block out cortisol release , and to raise growth hormone release.... well long of working out do you have to do for your body to release these things?? Because well if you did like 1 set of your first set but have your first set higher than normal so you have increased stress on your body , then you go eat something or take a protein shake to stop cortisol and release growth hormone , then after a long rest come back and do your 2nd set and repeat till you get about 5 sets for your workout....

like say on fridays all you did was 5 sets of abs , 5 sets of biceps , and 5 sets of back

do 1 set for each of these muscles then go take a protein shake and a quick meal , after about 15-20 minutes of rest , you go back and do your 2nd set and repeat. But only take small protein shakes and light meals so you dont get full throughtout the day so you cant finish eating at the right times of the day...

what im basically asking is doing 1 set of exercises like this would it make your body produce a much high amount of growth hormone to cause a shortened recovery time and bigger strength gains , than if you just did your workout all at 1 time and then ate , and took in a protein shake... and that was all you did for your workout that day

wow that was hard to follow, lol, and i have no idea, lol, but ill bump ya brutha man

Yah i know sorry , it was hard for me to explain earlier cause of the mind set i was in I couldnt think but so let me try again

if you split your workout in different parts of the day instead of just at one time , could you get your body to release more growth hormone than if you just did your workout in one part of the day. So you would have quicker recovery time , and better gains.

Or would your body not release growth hormone that many times throughout the day after you get done working out once you eat.

Growth hormone is released the most when you sleep at night. That's why a good night's sleep is so important to recovery. Mainly what you are talking about is keeping cortisol from going rampant and getting an insulin release, not growth hormone. As far as splitting up the workout goes, it depends on how much you do either way. As long as you don't overtrain, you should make gains.

From most of the research I've seen on muscle hypertrophy, I don't think that only doing 1 set then taking a break to eat will be enough to stimulate your nervous system and GH release (unless that set is something that really incorporates multiple sets or is super intense - like giant sets, down the rack, up the rack training or rest pause with forced reps and negatives). But then if you were to go back and do 4 more sets (super intense like the 1st one) after taking the breaks, you would be overtraining. If you want to limit cortisol take 3 grams of vitamin C before your workout (this has been shown to be as effective for limiting cortisol as taking 100mg of Cytadren).
