Surprise shakedown at my work

Holy cow! They e-mailed us at 9:00 this morning and we had a mandatory meeting at 10:00 today. Come to find out my work had to lay off 41 people. I fortunately did not get the axe--wheewww!

thank God bro, sorry you had to go through that. My company just laid off about 5% of the staff too and I've only been here for a few months so I was nervous!

that sucks.... nothing like coming in on a monday/tuesday, and leaving w/ a box and pink slip... oh yeah, and the security/police escort to the parkinglot.

wow...good it wasn't you bro. A buddy of mine got laid off in January after they made him lay off 15 people right before Christmas...he was pretty pissed and it's safe to say that he needed that escort to the parking lot.

Glad you didn't get the boot man. I'm definitely not looking forward to dealing with shit like that when I join the civilian world again, but it still probably beats the military.

the company I work at has been giving employees the axe since I got here over 3 yrs ago. was over 2K employees. Last weeks was about 300. This week, you could probably count then on your fingers and toes. Im contracted so its cool but might need a new contract account.

I said when I first got here, I said it would be nothing but contractors here someday. Didn't think I would still be here though.

Yeah, lots of us were pretty angry about it being last minute. They could have given us more warning than that.

they never do anymore. Its funny how they still expect honest, LOYAL employees and want 2+weeks notice before you leave...YET, they dont give any notice when they know your dept. is being erased from the company budget and act surprised at all the internal corporate corruption. Get them before they get you.
