Long story short this fool says even today black qbs are scrutanized more and have to work harder then their white counterpatrts, i dont want to turn this into a racial debate, keep it to NFL issues

anyways im angry by this as im an eagles fan along with my Ten Titans, so it bothers me that he slapped down the racial card all the sudden .

I honestly think in todays NFL its what can u do for me and color plays no role in who starts at qb

any thoughts?

I have only heard bits and peices of this in clips but I don't understand how race can really effect anything. If you think about it no one can criticize your stats or your performance you either throw touchdowns and score points or you don't. The game is set up with the same rules and regulations for everyone, if he claimed that the Hall of Fame discriminated against black QB's then that would be a different story. I know there aren't a lot of black QB's but I wonder what the ethnic breakdown of the entire NFL is in 2007.

Sorry- i gotta chime in here.
You know this type of crap makes it hard for minorities to be taken seriously.
Everyone is scrutinized under the same microscope.
I am Latino, and I will not use the race card to get me ahead. I want to progress on my own merits and if I am not I an certainly not going to use the lame ass excuse that I was a minority- it's a cop out anyway you see it. Plenty of non-minority players at all positions in the NFL, that have to work just as hard & if they don't produce they are under the same set of rules as everyone else. This really chaps my hide when I hear this.

mmx hit the nail on the head, i honestly think using the race card is a step backwards for minorities as well, there is a time and place for it, cause GOD knows racism still exists, however not in the NFL,

I have Chapstick if you need it.

Seriously though I think we all are saying the same thing, the rules and regulations are all the same. The field is the same length and every team has the same amount of players on the field at once...

as superman said excuses maybe he is taking the attention away from his shitty fucking performance 2 weeks in a row

OK, let get a racial breakdown of the NFL - I definitly think the Asians are grossly
under represented!!! If we want equality then lets make it for everybody.
As far as quaterbacks go - how about Ely Manning? if anyone has been under the
microscope it is him. You dont hear him bitching race card. I am from Calif.
When Joe Montana won the superbowl he got the disneyland commercial and
others - His agent had been working for 9 months on getting him those gigs.
When Jerry Rice got MVP he cried race card cus he didn't get the same thing - he
didn't have a agent at that time. I think it comes down to CLASS!! Either you
have it or you dont.

Race does not matter in the NFL. Coaches are going to insert players into their lineup in order to win or else it's their job on the line. That being said, there are 8 starting QB's in the NFL (assuming Leftwich starts in Atlanta and Russell starts in Oakland by year end)...that's 25%. How many starting RB's are white? Zero. So I think maybe today's WHITE RUNNING BACKS are scrutanized. But like Presser said, I'm not making this a race issue, just figured I would point out some factual numbers. It really doesn't matter whether you are black or white...or Asian or Guatemalan. If you play well, people will say good things about you, if you don't, you will get criticized.
