Anybody think this is crazy besides me?

These lunatics are trying to recreate the big bang. If it happens then what? Who paid for this. I would not want to be anywhere close when they start this thing. I am not a physicist but it seems like playing with this much in subatomic realm is a little insane. There is a documentary on about his now, this isn't just a random babbling.

Yep, and their micro scale is a tunnel that is 18 miles long. They say the protons circulate 18,000 times per second. They are looking for an endless source of energy. I myself don't believe in the big bang theory, but if they can harness this and run a car off it, I would save about 400 dollars a month in gas.
That the bright side. The dark side is that people in France may look like the incredible hulk. Green that is.

It's kind of scary. Those dudes are smart as hell, I think they know what they're doing- Ihope. I saw the show, it was pretty interesting. What kind of technologies did they say they were discovering? Or was it just to find out if the Big Bang Theory is real? If they are just testing out the thory to prove a point, seems like a waste, but if they are discovering technologies that could bump the human race into the future I like it.

They are trying to produce an unlimited source of energy by finding a hypothetical particle. Interesting huh. Oh, here is something to scare you. Someone hacked the thing the other day. These guys are smart obiously, unfortunately all of the great science discoveries in history were preceeded by failures. Hope this isn't one of them.

Like I said on another post I don't think this is how the universe came to be and its not how it will end either. Thats what I believe. I am glad it broke though. I suspect that it won't stop them, but after it got hacked that kinda scared me. Here is something else to think about. What kind of weapon could that thing become. Particle accelerator with could be "aimed." Smaller version, think about that.

that is pretty true I guess. It is down for two weeks, so after that "may the force be with us."

gonna be down at least 2 months. something about having to heat it up slowly and then fix it, and then cool it back down slowly.

it runs at "absolute zero" temperature - the temp of outer space. I have no idea how cold that really is though. Probably negative 100's in Farenheit

Absolute Zero was taught to us in school that it was theorically impossible to reach , because all molecular motion ceases.

I think the article said "near absolute zero" to be exact.
whatever that means, lol :D
