How many people here are laid off or looking for work?

Seriously...

I don't care what anyone says.... this is not a recession, this is a fucking depression... and what's depressing, is that the internet fucking blows when looking for work. Too many people just apply to 'apply' .. over qualified, under qualified.. and HR departments, or even just your average hiring person.... get bombarded with bullshit and they get tired at looking at resume's .. trust me.. i've asked...

i hate going to all these corpoate 'job boards' that have internal postings, and you have to do the same fucking thing over and over again.. in regards to looking for work... fill out al lthe info, upload a resume, then get an automated response.. saying thank you blah blah we will keep your resume for 6 months, feel free to apply to any other listings available (meaning, different hiring managers).. i just wanna plant myself somewhere long term. i'll take a pay cut to get started.. i don't care... anything is better/more than unemployment....

jesus.. anyone frustrated? ... or have suggestions? ....

I got laid off from my old job at GE I was there for over 10 years and made really good money...Now im in retail and make about half...It sucks but I had to get something and start somewhere all over again...
 
I was unemployed about 3 years ago for a period of about four months. Scared the hell out of me. I was going through local newspaper classified and all the online services including Craigslist for a long time. In the meantime, I did freelance work to keep afloat. You just have to keep persisting. If you are able to get an interview, keep following up with them. That shows them you are really interested in the job.
 
I teach school and this is my fifth year and we had like 20 cuts and one was me!!!!!!! So, Im hunting! Education degree.. 5 years experience.. no job. Wife teaches as well and have new 5 month old baby girl... can you say,.. DAMN?!?!?!
 
I believe michigan has the highest unemployment right now. Unless i want a 50% paycut, i started working out of state.
 
fuck, I've worked a whole 2 weeks this year and unless some bad ass storms hit (aka hurricanes) I don't see work picking up at all this year for what I do.

but hey everybody on TV is still making big promises and bullshit. The big money stimulis checks have passed and been cut and where did they go? right into the corporate pricks pockets...same asswipes that have put us in this situation:nope:
 
im not exactly laid off just slow and looking for a better job for now while still contracting on weekends.
 
swole... at least it's something... right now i'm using the 'internet' to look for work, which is just as bad as sitting in front of a television set and looking for a job... WTF..
 
I was actually planning on leaving the military at the end of '09, but the state of the economy changed my mind real quick. It's not something I want to do, but the job security has become much more valuable in the past year or so.
 
yeah man if you have something hold on to it, they've been saying for the past year now that this economy slump is just temporary and we should rebound any time now. Then you turn on the news and see more people are getting laid off. FUCK, it'll be at least another year before things get turned around and that's if we are lucky.
 
im thankful for my job. I got laid off this time last year and only called ONE job offer, and thats where I work now.

Ive never had a hard time finding work, would always get at least half a dozen decent offers. Not this last time...and it was before the economy was really shitty like it is now!
 
its bad here in Calif. My company and trade is the slowest I have ever seen it. I am one of the few still working but we are only
working 4 days a week so we dont work ourselves out of a job before it picks up again. (thats the plan) It is a 20% pay cut but
I'm feeling lucky to have that.

guess we'll just be in the Great Depression 2 by the end of the year
 
Problem with this war is all the other countries are doing the rebuilding. That and the money that usually goes back to re-invest into defect isnt there. -FUCKING BUSH!
 
In an ariticle I read last month it stated that 1 in 3 people are in forclosure, meaning that either them or some one directly related to them are in or being forced into forclosure. The same goes for unemployment. Me personally, no worries, I still have work coming in but last time I spoke to my nephew he had been laid off since February working in the construction industry.
I pray for the economy to pick up. Job market sucks as does the economy. Change????? Sure, now show me that change we been waiting on it now for a while. I have little faitth i our govt at the present time.

Yes got a job! contracting sucks but damn i need the money,but for the record I HATE PLUMBING. btw dorian I saw your post do you do tear out work or are you an insurance adjuster?
