glucophage (metformin)

Personally, I'm an insulin factory so I don't need it. Bump for info.

All I know is that it was the last resort for my mom before they put her on insulin. I wish I was more helpful.

Glucophage makes you more sensitive to your own insulin. I take it after workout sometimes, one time i tried both both insulin and glucophage from what i recall it made the insulin seem that much more stronger, good thing i had plenty stuff to feed on. I was thinking if this could substitute insulin or i could reduce the dose of insulin with glucophage. I can't believe no one has any experience with it.

metformin

Guys, i haven't posted on here before, not that i remember anyway!

I have TONS of IgF, insulin, metformin experience! Hell, ive used or tested just about everything! Im about to try MC's IgF for the first time! Like what im seein about it! I have still never seen whether MC's is Lr3 or not?

Anyway, on tho the Met! It is not the same as insulin, not even the same class of drug. It is used in the treatment of Type II Diabetes, which, usually is of the adult onset variety! It is whats called an insulin sensitizer! It doesn't raise ur nautural output whereas it merely re-sensitizes your body to insulins effects!

Consequently, and VERY fortunately, it has the unique ability to actually make ur muscle cell receptors MUCH more sensitive to insulins effects! It does this in such a way that you not only need a smaller dose of insulin to get the same effect, but your muscles can actually utilize more nutrients WITHOUT spillover, for lack of a better term!

Now for the VERY interesting part about Met! At the same time it is RE-sensitizing your muscle cells to insulins effects, it acutally DE-sensitizes your fat cells to the effects of insulin! You read that correctly, DE-sensitizes! Meaning, that while your muscles can utilize more nutrients, the fat cells aren't able to uptake nutrients as easily!

Hence, the reason Metformin is an amazing drug for bluking and dieting! While i have learned from personal experience that my PW dose could be reduced to around 10i.u.'s to get the same effects i got at 60i.u.'s, I have also learned that the amount of nutrients could be increased as well, and still lose bodyfat whether bulking or cutting!

I continue to use the term NUTRIENTS, because while it is generally believed that you MUST consume carbs per gram of insulin used, I have NEVER believed this to be an absolute necessary evil! I have, for the past 5 years, used insulin on and off and adopted the practice of super saturation with aminos (hydrolyzed) post insulin injection, with a VERY small amount of dextrose-upgraded to maltodextrin-upgraded to WAXYtrash-and finally a super complicated mixture of whole grain/rice syrup solid product!

PW dose for me at 275lbs consists of 10i.u.'s (5 im, bi-laterally) followed immediately by 60grams of straight aminos (hydrolyzed of course) mixed with around 10-12 grams of the CARB mix! Drive home, shit, shower, shave n head for my POST training meal usually within an hour of leaving the gym! Post meal consists usually of 6-10 ounce chicken breast IN ADDITION to 8 ounce filet of steak, small salad and/or small yam! That's it! no more no less, back to regular feeding schedule!

I know most people say sub Q with insulin, however, i prefer im for the simple reason that it speeds up the process of the already fast acting Humalog! It gives a bit of a quicker onset of action, however, it spikes AND clears the body MUCH, MUCH quicker! With the use of MET, smaller (ie safer and more manageable) doses of insulin can be used with much greater efficiency, AND more frequently!

Hope this helped, and sorry i strayed from the original course with my PW insulin feeding, i just find it highly UN necessary to take in so many carbs! EVEN while gaining mass! Carbs do NOT build muscle, AMINOS do! Carbs are merely an energy source, and with the addition of IgF, GH, etc your body can assimilate quite well to utilizing fat for energy production.

My 1st post so hello, to all !! Maybe to also help answer your question Cruel...Met is great at helping prevent your body from producing a slin surge due to carbs, esp. high GI carbs ! It basically slows down gastric emptying. I've currently been on a keto diet for the last month and a half and Met has definitely help keep me in ketosis on days I cheat a lil' and take in carbs that turn to glucose quickly. With that being said the one thing you need to keep track of is daily totals. I've heard Met above 2,000mg daily will start to create lactic acidosis which essentially is your body becoming highly acidic and that definitely isn't a good thing. If you have the choice between 500mg and 850's, go with the 500's so that you can spread it out as needed better through out the day. Hope this helped.

Very interesting information. I may need to get some metformin then. I've been using insulin medically now for about two months for a sort of unorthodox treatment of making my body lower its own production of insulin, and I think it is making me grow much more quickly although I'm putting on a little fat as well. Even though my body surges its own insulin, it was not making me grow like this so after seeing the above posted info, I may need to be re-sensitized to my own insulin. Time to talk to the doctor.

Awesome info on this. I agree about using slin IM instead of subQ. I also think that helps keep my midsection from putting on as much fat.

10 min cardio 5 days a week in the morning on empty stomach and T3.
