Storm Destruction in NJ...

So yesterday, the NYC metro area got hit with an unexpected nor'easter, incredibly high winds and lots of rain. The rain was expected, but the rest of the storm was not... there have been power outages everywhere - couldn't even sleep home last night. Beach erosion, down trees, debris all over the place.

I came home this morning to a bunch of fun in my backyard. Thankfully there wasn't any damage to the house I rent or to my car, etc. Some people weren't so lucky...

Two trees fell in my yard and broke the fence and one of my poor neighbors had a bunch of tall oak trees fall and hit their house!! Had the trees fallen straight instead of sideways, they would have been on my car!

Scary stuff, it was... some places are still flooded and the rain isn't supposed to stop until tomorrow!

hell yeah, that wind and rain sucked!! I came out to my 04 f-150 this am with a tree right next to it. The tree was about 18inch circumferance, and it missed my truck by inches. The branches hit it, but not the thick part, thank God, because i have no Insurance right now......

the photo's I took look very similar to yours Steph

It's crazy, isn't it? Everything shut down over here by 5pm last night. I tried to escape the power outage by going to the gym but it was also out of power (shouldn't they have generators or something??) and all the stores in the surrounding neighborhoods were dark. It was so creepy... living in a busy suburban area, I'm not used to that... 7-eleven, wawa, walgreens and all the 24-hour stores closed down. Thankfully I had a safe place to escape too... I was nervous about returning home. I wasn't sure what to expect.

Oh, and there's water in my basement... told the landlord. He's coming tomorrow to assess the damages. Thankfully I didn't get the worst of it. I feel bad for the people who live near the rivers that crested already.

that sucks, we go through this about 5 or 6 times a year lol, most of the time tornado related. Makes for an exciting spring though. Glad your house and car didnt get messed up.
