I have an ipod shuffle that I use for my workouts. Got it 3 years ago and have had the same songs on there for 3 years. I downloaded limewire to get all the songs back then, but had to reformat my computer about 100 times since then due to viruses ect.

I have about 100 songs on the shuffle now, and just re downloaded itunes and limewire to add some new songs. All the songs that I have on the ipod now are not saved files to my pc so when I click Autofill it deletes all the songs and just adds the new limewire songs to the ipod.

Is there anyway that I can keep the songs I already have on there that are not saved to the pc, and add the new ones I just downloaded?

I've always hated that it does that. There is no reason you shouldn't be able to copy your songs back off the iPod. There are a couple of programs out there that will allow you to connect to an iPod and copy all the songs off of it. iPodRip is a good one.

First of all- I would recommend never to use Limewire as your P2P- it is ridden with viruses all the time. Try something like Ares- I have used it for years and have never had a virus issue. You also should be able to back up the ipod library file- option should be under your itunes menu . Why are you hitting autofill?

Also make sure you have "Manually manage music and movies" checked. That way it won't sync, you just drag and drop what you want into your iPod. You can also add music from more than one computer this way.

very good point- its easier to manually manage music like that.

yes you just drag the song over the picture of your ipod and it will take it and keep the other songs

Download a program called touchcopy and it allows you to take music off others ipods and put them onto yours. It also allows you to put music on the ipod without using itunes.
