SALUTE to all those who serve and have served in our Great Military!
Im stoked, my only nephew leaves for Air Force Basic Training in April. I'm so proud. He's been hitting the gym with me past few weeks to and he's more than ready for the run, pushups and sit-ups.

Congrats, my sis and bro in law both were in the Air Force. It's a big deal, glad to see he's so excited and prepared for it

My limited duty was a weekend warrior as a Navy Reservist but I had many 2 wk active duty stints and once in a while a weekend get away. But I got to see a big chunk of the world thanks to Uncle Sam.

Pearl Harbour and Rota Spain were 2 my fav active duty places

It'd be nice to get to travel on the gov't money, but I don't think I could ever do any type of military duty personally, but I'm thankful for those who do

To show everyone how screwed up the Navy can be (I love the military dearly) heres a true story. Keep in mind these are your tax $$.

20 yrs ago my unit took about 8 of us from Madison WI to San Diego CA for a weekend on a destroyer ship. So we fly into San Diego on Friday PM. The next morning we report to where our ship is supposed to be. Turns out the ship left for the Phillipines a few days earlier. One of us calls back to Reverse Center and informs them. Someone didn't do thier homework. The RC tell us to find another ship to train on for the weekend. There were no ships even close to the ship we were to be on in the harbour.

Bottom line, they had nothing for us to do....so we all went downtown to drink....to the Horton Mall to eat, same thing next day. It was a free vacation and I'm ashamed to say all on the taxpayers. Cost to fly 8 sailers plus pay us and feed us? Maybe 5K.....

That doesn't really surprise me when it comes to this country, the left hand and right hand rarely are ever on the same page
