Pro Tan Vs. Spray Tan

The allure of the spray tans that you can get done at the shows is it is fast and convient. I have never seen a competitor who got spray tanned that had color that could even compare with someone who does it the old fashioned way. Always wondered why people would train for so long, diet so long and then take the easy way out. A tan can make or break you on stage. If you are neck and neck with someone and their color is better your eyes will naturally focus on that competitor. Tanning before a show is so important. I look like I have pro tan on before I even start putting it on, of course you do need to stop tanning 4-5 days out so that you are not holding any additional water from it. My tanning process takes a long time, usually two solid days. It's not bad however because I am already at the hotel and my job then is tan, eat, pose, rest over and over again. I use 7 coats of protan and 3 coats of jan tana. I do the final coat of jan tana the morning of the show and an additional coat between prejudging and the night show. This is important as jan tana will come off during the day. This will be the first time that I will be competing at a two day event, prejudging is Friday afternoon and the night show is Saturday night, so I will do some adjusting for that. I am scary dark in the light of day but the color is perfect onstage, those lights wash out everything and without the proper color they will also wash out all of your hard work.

Liquid sun rays is the cats ass!!!!! I had them spray me up at the battle of champions and It was absolutely perfect. Of course it is always good to have a good base tan (real tan), but the job they did was top notch....

well if its the cats ass then im in,lmao wtf is the cats ass,lol

I never had spray tan and never would rely on it for a show!

I always have a very good base tan and prep before hand, but if I am in a show where I do not have anyone to help me, and the spray is available, I do it because its just a good safety net- no harm in it and worth the investment.

Yes I guess it you had no one to help you it is a very nice option. Gotta suck for people that have nobody to help didn't even think about that. Hard to protan your own back!

most normal spray tans aren't going to get you dark enough...if you want to go the spray tan route make sure its someone who does competition tans...many times there will be a spray tanner on site at the competitions and available the night before.....

If you are going to do that...make sure you talk to them about which other products you can use in addition to their spray product....many times other products will interfere with the absorption/adherence of the spray into the skin
