Where the hell are all the good paying jobs at? Paying $900 a month in child support is killing me.And I do not mind paying that becuz i love taking care of my boys.. But not running any gear for six months now is killing me.. Everything that i worked on is about gone.. In 6 months i went from 260 to be lucky if I'm 230 now. Can a guy get a break !!!!

I feel ya, bro. My wife and I are on a super strict budget to try and get our debt paid off. It sucks!

Good paying jobs are in the medical and energy fields. Or working over seas.

Yep it just ain't the same anymore! You might wanna think about starting your own biz lightsout! If it weren't for entrepreneurs this country's unemployment rate would be 30-40%

Williston, ND has plenty of oil work. North Eastern Wyoming is energy rich as well as SE Montana.

Expect a higher cost of living as well. $800 a month for a dumpy 2 bedroom apt. Not a whole lot of scenery or "urban amenities" available. The winters can be pretty gruesome too. But...theres work.

Things have slowed down a bit since its an election year, however.

Thats my neck of the woods anyhow

Me and my humble gym are in a rust belt state in a depressed area w/high unemployment. Between that and the tanning (which used to gross $55K on 5 beds, now its around $20K) decline, my income is less than half what it was 6 yrs ago. I now have a vacation home in foreclosure and am considering Chapter 13. Hopefully better days are ahead for all us

I agree, I lucked into a good paying job, but it's only good once you go full time which could be another 2 years for me so it's tight until then. If it wasn't for this job I would've moved a long time ago, the coal mines here are even laying off or cutting hours back. All these guys that went out and bought big houses and brand new trucks are really kicking themselves now, but at least they're still working, just not getting the money they were a couple years ago

amen. I've thought about a few things in the past and will eventually move on to invest or create a new business. I kick myself now for not inventing my great idea I thought of years ago........you may know it as the iphone:rolleyes:

If you're being serious the sad thing is that it was probably thought of years ago, but they had to wait for technology to catch up. Similar to the idea for the movie Avatar, it was in place long before technology was available.

Don't even get me started about Avatar......yup my idea too lol

Yes I'm kidding.

$800 a month is high?? This ghetto ass dump is about $1100 a month and you get to live is a primarily Section 8 neighborhood. That is the wonder of our society. We struggle and barely get food on the table, the scumbags still get their $1200 a month for Section 8, $400 a month in Food Stamps, likely $2k a month in disability, free health care, etc... The question people don't want to ask is WHO IS PAYING FOR THIS SINCE EVERYONE IS UNEMPLOYED??!!
I'm telling you guys.... it's going to come crashing down soon

I figured, still amazing how these techy's think of this stuff well before it's released. I am just amazed at the knowledge some of the developers have

I do indeed feel blessed. Used to live in a town in ID where I'd pay $500 a month for a 2br, w/d and a garage. No work there though.
There are a few parasites around here as well. Not as bad as when I lived in Oakland, CA around '89-'91. Your ghetto description brought back some memories. Entitlement mentality at its worst

EXACTLY!!! You hit two things I've been thinking about on the nose. Silk and I want to move so badly, but just as you've said the nice areas with decent costs of living are so small and have no jobs and what they do have is very low paying. The entitlement mentality here is disgusting. These people depend on the Govt for everything and then sell drugs on top of it and they are PROUD about how they live and make fun of working people.

That depends on the area, we don't have A LOT of high paying jobs, but when the cost of living is cheap it doesn't take the same annual income to live the way you're accumstomed to. Hell around here $75k/yr will take care of nearly anything you'd want.

And you're always going to have the ghetto fabulous lifestyle everywhere you go. I don't get what the amazement factor is with living a lifestyle that you have to hide unless you truly are stupid and have flashy belongings and no income to support it. Then you are just asking to be caught and wonder why you end up in jail. The ones that maintain jobs and do it on the side are typically the ones that can go forever without getting caught, but you can't teach living within means to kids anymore. If the lifestyle doesn't match the income (because there isn't any taxable income) it's only a matter of time and I'll guess it's within a year

So fckn shitty that we have work our fckn asses off just barely make ends meet. Ever since my woman lost her job of 16 years we have battling just keep what we have. I'm between 50 to 60 hours a week and bringing home so good bank, but when you have to pay everything there is barely anything left.

I guess I cant complain about anything. I've been debt free for a little over 3 years. All my utilities are included with my rent. Only things I pay for are my cell phone bill and auto insurance. I dont make alot of money but I make it work.
