forced reps.

some times like today when i do shoulders i like to do forced reps..so after seated D/B press i will go on the millitary press with the long bar and add an extra 20-25lb of weight and do forced reps by bending my knee's and forcing the weight up though my legs i will do 3 sets of as many reps as i can 6-8..i would never be able to lift this weight in a straight press movement.but i like to do them to shock my shoulder every few months.
my gym partner has a real hatred for them and bitches that i do them saying im cheating ec ect..i tell him i know this thats the point of it ,i dont do it all the time and just like to power the weight up and fry my shoulders every once in a while .
i could understand his hate for them if i did it all the time but i just think its a good way to lift weight u could not lift other wise, and by doing this shocking the system.
is it me just being an ass??? i hope not??

I think its good to switch it up and shock the muscle once in a while. You are using your legs to get it started (at the
weak point of the muscle) but you are putting a heavier weight stress on your shoulder. I used to do these and come
down as slow as I could. I think its good but then again after years my shoulders ache like hell sometimes.

Has your friend ever read Arnold's encyclopedia of bb? He goes over the concept of "cheat curls" how they're an essential part of bicept growth. I don't see how your forced military press would be any different of a concept. I'm all for it if you can maintain good form. Just as long as it isn't a primary part of your work out.

What about bench forced reps, leg press forced reps, Like Ironplease said, those couple of cheat curls burn those
deeper fibers and force growth. And you arnt doing them every workout. I used to see guys training for competition
use forced reps all the time. Especially if your only doing them once in a while I think it is a good tool.
Thats how I originally got my bench heavier, I did forced reps every workout. (I was much younger. lol)
I also think its a good tool for getting past a sticking point. Just my opinion.
And hey, if it feels good to you, who cares. You shouldnt stop doing a exercise cus someone else dosent like it.
If I had a training partner and he would do a exercise that didnt feel good to me I would substute something else
for myself. Sounds like Your not the one being the "ass" lol
