So there's this dickhead in the gym that walks around like he's the strongest SOB in there which I usually ignore. Well, until yesterday anyway. He will bench 225 for sets of 10 and then walks around like his shit doesn't stink and will size everyone up that's around him. I normally just brush it off and don't make a big deal about it, but yesterday was different.
He was doing deadlifts yesterday and I was training back and had planned on doing deads before I even got to the gym so when he was doing 225 for sets I just laughed to myself and waited for him to finish. He got done with his last set and left the weight on the bar which is normal for him (even though the gym asks that you re-rack the weight). So I decided to ask him if he was done even though I was sure he was. He said yes and looked at me kind of funny, but I left his weight on there and started my first set. I did a set of 10 easy reps. I noticed him looking as I was doing them so I decided to up the weight to 275 for my next set of 10. At this time I didn't see him around. So I added another 50 pounds and did another set of 10 (with 325). This time as I got done I noticed him looking from a distance. I thought I'd really show him up so I added yet another 50 and did a set of 6. This time he had come up right beside me and did curls almost as if he was waiting to see if I'd even be able to do it. So once I got done I asked him if he needed in the rack because I noticed him looking at me. He responded with a blunt no then walked off.
Anyway, needless to say I loved every minute of that, but damn am I paying the price today. I normally don't go any heavier than 275 on deads because this gym has a lot of women and older people so I don't want to slam the weight around. It takes a lot to actually stop the weight about an inch from the ground so you're not making a lot of noise. In my normal gym I'll go up to around 500, but I will slam the weight down when I'm done rather than try to be quiet with it. So this is why I am so sore, I'm not used to doing that much weight since I've been at this gym since July.
