Positive Delusion

I think it is incredibly important to be a little deluded in order to achieve the most you are capable of in training and certainly in life. My goal is to deadlift 700, pause incline 405, squat 600, and standing press 120 lbs over my bodyweight at under 200 lbs in 2014 only on trt and I have no doubt I will do it (I have been strength training less than a year). I am making fantastic gains on no supplements simply because I truly believe in myself. I have been hesitant to share these goals because I really hope I don't sound like a complete douche bag and because if I told these goals to most people they would tell me I'm crazy.

And while I do truly believe that I can do all this, I also realize that most would consider these goals deluded. But this delusion is what I've attributed most of my progress to. I got the delusion train rolling when I saw that there are incredibly strong, lightweight guys (and I don't give a flying fuck if they are juiced to the gills, while I'm not - strength is 99% effort. If I want something bad enough, I will get it). But after I made progress initially because I was motivated by these guys, I started setting my own goals and feeding off myself. In a sense I have now became my own motivator and my mind is the only thing I need to keep going.

I hope this doesn't sound arrogant. But I think anyone who excels at anything (lifting in this case and I most definitely am not excelling at lifting), has this mindset whether they would explain it this way or not.

Not crazy at all bro, you have goals I think you can totally do it. Your heart is the strongest muscle bro. You have the strength!

Train hard eat big, lift smart. You should enter a power lifting meet, winning in your class I think could drive you even more to keep gaining strength.

You ever use ammonia sticks? I've heard they help over come sticking points and give you an edge

Totally achievable my man. I have Flat Benched twice my body weight 2 times in my life. Once when I was 25 and weighed 155, put up 315. And again about 6 months ago weighing 187, put up 375. Both were goals that I set and achieved.

Get it son!!!

I don't think there's anything deluded about it. Others that have done similar things had similar sounding goals, and they achieved them, myself included. You have the goals, you have the will and capability to make them reality, and it isn't arrogant or deluded. I think you can reach those goals, too.

Thanks brother. Never used ammonia sticks before. A lot of my buddies have used nose tork which is ammonia I believe. And yeah I plan on doing a PLing meet. I'm hoping to bring these numbers to 181 or wait a little while and gain some weight and strength and do 198.

That's really impressive! Do you bench close grip or with a wide grip?

Thanks for the encouragement brother!

I bench with my pinky on the outside line. More of a wide grip brother and I've always used a suicide grip, thumb inside. . ;)
375 aint that impressive but I'm getting closer 400. I just have old injuries that I try not to re-aggravate..lol

That's awesome Bro. I know when I start making gains and get a little impressed with myself its like a snowball going downhill. I just keep on gaining. The mind is by far the most important and powerful part of the equation
