Never heard that. Usually store bought oils need to be filtered twice. Once before they are heated with a .45. Then the final filter .22 before you bottle. .22 is more of a standard for the home brewer that is not um.....working in a sterilized facility...so as not to kill ones self...:drooling:
Unless you are heating it up then putting it through a .22 you are not really accomplishing anything. What I would do is heat that batch up to the recommended temp which is 210 -220 degrees for 20 minutes in either hot water or a oven with a 18 guage for a vent. I would then follow the dudes advice by diluting it down with more sterile oil then filtering it thru a .22. That really should work. You should just make your own test e if you are going thru all this trouble. You might have contaminated it with your .45 filter. You need to use a sterile filter by the way to filter. .45s are generally not sterile. Your final filter process has to be a STERILE filter. It will come sealed in a sterile bag.
