I'm looking to get a nice computer for a decent price... I'm not computer savvy by any means, need some direction.. Basically just for online shopping, browsing, kids to play games, etc Nothing fancy but something nice..

Any help? New or Used in open..

Apple is the easiest to use. As soon as my dell laptop croaks that I've had for 10 yrs I'm going apple

That's what I had, a Dell and it's done for... What type of Apple is affordable though and just basic really?

Thanks

For a Mac, if you already have a monitor, keyboard, and mouse, the cheapest way is the Mac Mini (starts at $499), although it connects to monitors via HDMI. Other than that, the basic 21.5" iMac would do just fine as everything is built in, that starts at $1099.

My only suggestion is that if you need the computer more for games, then a cheap PC may be the better route to go. Macs have some games available for them, but not nearly as much as there are for PCs. If they are online games played through a browser, then no problem.

Thanks brother, I'll have to look into it.. I'll also have to see what type of games the kids are playing.. They use the iPods and iPhones, I just want them to be able to do homework and play... And for me and the wife to do our business..

I walk into an electronic shop or Walmart and look and I'm overwhelmed and leave lol Idk if the salesman is trying to sell me his dream or what.

ive had this for about 4 years it has a coreI5...pretty obsolete in comp terms..but still good and fast needs a new battery but other than that its still good to go..
what i will say is if you let yours kids on your comp it will get full of crap and only last a few years..every one the kids get there hands on with in 6 months its full of virus mallware root kits..they dont care or understand the need for safety on the web they just press ok to any thing..

at least with a mac there is less chance of that but you get what you pay for right.
but a good malware and anti virus should stop all that jazz

yeah i have a mac and a toshiba both are lap tops and the mac is the better computer hands down but not cheap!

You pay for Apple's quality. However the latest builds are shitty. Nevertheless they last for a long time. Are you going to use your laptop.for:
1) Simply browsing?
2) Office work?
3) Design and Production?
4) Watching movies?
5) Gaming?
