Need help from the Fairer Sex.....

My mom is approaching 50 and is about 20 lbs overweight. She walks a mile or so about 5 times a week from what I can gather, so she's not sedentary. She's the typical soccer mom, shuttling my little bro and sis around constantly.
Now she's decided to join a gym and add some strength training to her regimen. She has asked me to recommend a workout routine for her and I'm not sure where to start. Does anyone have any VERY simple beginner splits or know of any good websites that might?
Thanks for your help,

I would suggest maybe some circuit type traing 3 days a week, see how she likes that and how she responds to it. It seems to work really well for women in that age range, and its not too much for them to spend 3 days a week in the gym.

I would also have to agree with circiut training, as it helps with the fundamental form training, as long as the settings are correct...like with the joint axis and such. Also lower or no weight can be used to begin.
Big Ups to your mom for getting fit.

My gym has a class called body pump, you use a straight bar with really light weight. It shows you the basic exercises and how to perform them correctly and it is non-stop so you get a great cardio workout too. It is great for beginners and it is challenging. I always recommend it to beginners and they always like it.

Thanks to everyone for the input.... I'll look into these things. Don't know much about circuit training but it's probably easy to find info on the 'net.... beginner group exercise classes are a great suggestion too - should help keep her on a schedule.
Thanks again,
