Greg Hardy | Thomas Lakes, MMA Fighting A heavyweight matchup between former NFL Pro Bowler Greg Hardy and Maurice Greene is in the works for the fall.
Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that the bout is being targeted for the UFC’s Oct. 31 event following an initial report from MMA Junkie. As of now, there has been no location announced for the card.
Hardy looks to make it two straight wins after earning a unanimous decision over Yorgan De Castro at UFC 249 in April. “The Prince of War” has had a roller coaster run in the UFC with a trio of wins, a pair of losses—one by disqualification in his octagon debut against Allen Crowder—and a victory overturned to a no contest after using an inhaler between rounds against Ben Sosoli this past October at UFC Boston.
After being finished in back-to-back fights by Sergey Pavlovich and Alexey Oleinik, Greene got back in the win column via third-round submission over Gian Villante at June’s UFC on ESPN 12 event. “The Crochet Boss,” a competitor on season 28 of The Ultimate Fighter, also holds promotional wins over Michel Batista, Jeff Hughes and Junior Albini as he aims to get back into the division’s top-15 rankings.
