The ending was all the more impressive considering the round before it. Valiev, a teammate of UFC on ESPN 15 headliner Frankie Edgar, came out of the gate looking nothing short of phenomenal. Jones appeared out of his depth against a constant volley of attacks, with Valiev using the entire spectrum of striking techniques to catch his opponent off guard. TREVIN JONES WITH A STUNNING UPSET!

Most effective was a body shot that visibly hurt Jones, who sunk to the canvas and covered up for dear life. Valiev flurried away and landed punch after punch against Jones, who was stuck against the fence. Somehow, Jones managed to survive the onslaught and showed a veteran’s poise in getting a late-round takedown.
