Tom Breese (pictured) fights Roman Kopylov in a middleweight bout on Oct. 3 | Esther Lin, MMA Fighting Veteran Tom Breese will try to keep Roman Kopylov winless inside the octagon.
Officials announced Friday that Breese (11-2) is set to face Kopylov (8-1) in a middleweight bout at a UFC Fight Night on Oct. 3 at a location still to be determined.
This will be Breese’s second appearance of 2020, the first time he’s logged two in-cage appearances since 2016. Injuries and health concerns related to anxiety have kept the 28-year-old Englishman out of action. He is just 1-2 in his last three fights, most recently losing by first-round TKO to Brendan Allen in February. His UFC record sits at 4-2.
Kopylov, 29, entered his UFC debut in November with some steam as an unbeaten prospect out of Russia. However, he was submitted in the third round by Karl Roberson, giving him his first loss. Prior to that, Kopylov was a middleweight champion in the Fight Nights Global organization.
The Oct. 3 Fight Night event is expected to be headlined by a battle between former bantamweight champion Holly Holm and top contender Irene Aldana.
