Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that a matchup between Miguel Baeza and Mickey Gall will take place at the event, which takes place at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas.
Baeza has won all nine of his professional fights, seven of which were before they went to the judges’ scorecards. “Caramel Thunder” earned a UFC contract when he picked up a unanimous decision win over Victor Reyna on Dana White’s Contender Series in June 2019. The MMA Masters 170-pounder has won both of his octagon bouts with finishes in the second round of Hector Aldana and, most recently at UFC on ESPN 8 in May, Matt Brown.
Gall has flip-flopped wins and losses over his last six fights, beginning with a second-round submission win over Sage Northcutt at UFC on FOX 22. The New Jersey native dropped his first pro fight to Randy Brown at UFC 217 before bouncing back with a first-round submission win over George Sullivan at UFC Lincoln in August 2018. Since then, the 28-year-old has suffered losses to Diego Sanchez and Mike Perry, while earning a hard fought decision win over Salim Touahri at UFC Newark in-between.
The UFC’s Sept. 19 event will be headlined by the highly anticipated welterweight grudge match between Colby Covington and Tyron Woodley.
