Taura MMA has yet to define a date and location for Ribas’ first fight back in the sport. Speaking with MMA Fighting last week, Ribas said he planned on making a comeback in late 2020 or early next year.
Taura MMA also announced the signing of Marcio Alexandre Jr. (17-5), who scored a win over middleweight contender Paulo Costa on The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil.
Ribas, 28, is 3-1 as a welterweight, but claims to have two extra wins that are not on his official Tapology record. The judoka scored all of his wins by finish before suffering his lone defeat in April 2015.
Ribas decided to return to MMA after a five-year hiatus when he was inspired by Amanda’s success in the UFC with wins over the likes of Paige VanZant and Mackenzie Dern.
Arthur wants to make the Ribas family the first brother-sister duo in UFC history.
“Seeing that hard work really pays off, that’s what really motivated me,” he said. “You train and train hard, and the seeds you plan now will harvest down the line, even if you don’t believe it. That was a lesson to me.”
