Sean Strickland returns from two-year layoff after motorcycle accident, fights Wellington Turman at Oct. 31 UFC event

UFC middleweight Sean Strickland stopped Nordine Taleb in his last UFC bout in 2018. | Esther Lin, MMA Fighting Sean Strickland will finally re-enter the UFC cage on Oct. 31 as he battles Brazilian middleweight Wellington Turman in Las Vegas, N.V., sources told MMA Fighting. Strickland (20-3) hasn’t fought since a second-round stoppage victory over Nordine Taleb on Oct. 2018. “Tarzan” suffered a motorcycle accident two months later, which forced him to go under the knife for a knee surgery. At the time, Strickland expected to “be back at it in a few months,” but his road was much longer.
“I think I was going straight and a car turned out in front of me,” Strickland said on Dec. 2018. “I got into an accident going 45 miles per hour. I was unconscious for about three hours. I got knee surgery last night, the doctor said it’s not that bad.”
Strickland won seven of 10 UFC bouts, including victories over the likes of Tom Breese and Court McGee. His losses came against Santiago Ponzinibbio, Elizeu Zaleski, and future champion Kamaru Usman.
Turman (16-4) looks to rebound from a first-round knockout to Andrew Sanchez in August that dropped his UFC record to 1-2. “The Prodigy” also inked a new four-fight deal with the company.
The UFC Fight Night show will be headlined by a middleweight showdown between Uriah Hall and former 185-pound king Anderson Silva.
