9News in Colorado first reported the sentence, which comes six months after Trujillo, 36, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of promoting obscenity. Prosecutors dropped three other felony charges against the veteran lightweight fighter.
Trujillo was arrested this past July after police executed a search warrant for his phone and “dozens of photos of nude young women were located.”
Police were tipped off to Trujillo by an underage woman who said the fighter contacted her on social media and began sending her nude photos. She blocked him, but he later contacted her again, and they began exchanging messages. She told police she accepted his request because he was a celebrity and she liked receiving the attention, but was uncomfortable when he took the conversation in a sexual direction.
Investigators tracked down Trujillo through his social media accounts and verified the photos sent to the victim were him from “the body style, tattoos and skin tone.” After police made contact, he admitted to having “multiple conversations with females under the age of 18.”
Trujillo faced up to 18 months in jail and/or a maximum fine of $100,000 for each of his initial felony charges – attempted sexual exploitation of a child, promotion of obscenity to a minor and sexual exploitation of a child (self/publish) – after his initial arrest. He last fought in the octagon in 2017 at UFC on FOX 26.
