Kelleher needed just 39 seconds to tap Rodriguez, picking up his third finish in four recent fights in what the promotion said was the fourth-fastest featherweight submission in UFC/WEC history.
Rodriguez shot for a takedown early and left his neck exposed, leading to the quick finish. Check out the video.

It was Kelleher’s 10th career submission in an appearance jinxed by several opponent withdrawals; Rodriguez was the third scheduled foe and was confirmed Friday night after Kevin Natividad was scratched from the event.
“Boom” Kelleher is back to the win column after a decision loss to Cody Stamann in his previous outing. Before that, he picked up back-to-back stoppage wins in fights against Ode Osbourne and Hunter Azure, both of which earned him performance bonuses.
With another quick finish, Kelleher put himself on the short list for another $50,000 check.
