Both of Liana Jojua's previous UFC bouts took place in Abu Dhabi. | Esther Lin, MMA Fighting Liana Jojua will return to Fight Island to welcome Invicta FC’s Miranda Maverick to the UFC on Oct. 24, both fighters confirmed on social media following a report from TASS.
UFC 254 will go down in Abu Dhabi and feature a title unification bout between lightweights Khabib Nurmagomedov and Justin Gaethje in the main event attraction.
Jojua (8-3) competed at UFC’s first Fight Island trip in July, making short work of Diana Belbita with an armbar in less than three minutes.
In her octagon debut, a third-round TKO loss to Sarah Moras in Sept. 2019, also took place in the United Arab Emirates.
Maverick (7-2) inked a deal with the UFC after winning four in a row under the Invicta FC banner, including a one-night, eight-woman flyweight grand prix in 2019.
The 23-year-old, who beat Pearl Gonzalez in her last MMA bout, was originally scheduled to make her UFC debut in June opposite Mara Romero Borella, but withdrew from the card.
The UFC 254 lineup currently includes Robert Whittaker vs. Jared Cannonier, Rafael dos Anjos vs. Islam Makhachev, Alexander Volkov vs. Walt Harris and Cynthia Calvillo vs. Lauren Murphy.
