Raulian Paiva | Esther Lin, MMA Fighting Raulian Paiva won’t be competing this Halloween.
MMA Fighting confirmed with Paiva that he has been forced to withdraw from his flyweight bout with Amir Albazi at the UFC’s upcoming Oct. 31 event after tearing the ACL in his right knee. The injury was first reported by Combate.
Paiva’s injury will require surgery and he expects to return to action in four-to-six months.
The Albazi fight was to be Paiva’s third appearance of 2020. Paiva rebounded from a winless 2019 with back-to-back victories over Mark De La Rosa and Zhalgas Zhumagulov, though the latter victory was marred by Paiva missing weight for the contest. Overall, he is 20-3 as a professional and 2-2 in the UFC.
Should Albazi remain on the card, he’ll look to build on a successful UFC debut that saw him submit Malcolm Gordon inside of a round in July. Albazi (13-1) has also previously competed for Brave Combat Federation and Bellator.
