Damon Jackson | Esther Lin, MMA Fighting Damon Jackson is expected to make his return to the octagon this weekend for a short-notice featherweight fight against Mirsad Bektic at UFC Vegas 11.
Multiple people with knowledge of the change including Bektic’s manager Mike Dolce confirmed the matchup to MMA Fighting on Thursday following an initial report from Bloody Canvas. According to sources, Jackson just needs to clear his COVID-19 test to make the fight official.
Jackson (17-3-1, 1 NC) previously fought three times in the UFC but never secured a win in the promotion after a loss, with a no contest and a draw in his final two bouts. After leaving the UFC, Jackson competed in LFA as well as the PFL, while putting together an impressive 8-2 record overall.
Most recently, Jackson defeated Mauro Chaulet by first-round submission at LFA 83 in March.
He returns to the UFC for a showdown with Bektic, who was originally expected to face Eduardo Garagorri before Garagorri was pulled from the card after one of his coaches tested positive for the coronavirus.
Bektic (13-3) looks to stop a two-fight skid including a split-decision loss to Dan Ige in his most recent outing in February.
Bektic vs. Jackson joins the UFC Vegas 11 preliminary card, with welterweights Colby Covington and Tyron Woodley scheduled to meet in the main event.
