Williams will make his octagon debut this Saturday night at UFC Fight Island 4 when he faces fellow promotional newcomer Nassourdine Imavov in a middleweight preliminary matchup. The 29-year-old earned a contract this past month when he picked up a first-round TKO win over Gregory Rodrigues in his third appearance on Dana White’s Contender Series in September.
Oddly enough, Rodrigues’ original opponent for the event was Imavov before Williams took the opportunity on short notice.
Ahead of his first UFC bout, Williams joined MMA Fighting’s What the Heck with Mike Heck to discuss earning his long-awaited shot to compete in the UFC, finding out about the fight before he even returned home from his DWCS win, why he likes the matchup with Imavov, calling his opponent’s will into question due to not competing on the Contender Series, getting a free supply of insulin as a type 1 diabetic from a giving doctor, and more.
