Magomed Magomedov | Magomed Magomedov Instagram Bellator has added another top notch bantamweight to the roster after signing Russian fighter Magomed Magomedov to an exclusive contract.
Bellator officials confirmed the news to MMA Fighting following an initial report from CBS Sports.
With a 16-1 record, Magomedov has built an impressive resume while primarily competing in Absolute Championship Berkut.
His highest profile win came against future UFC champion Petr Yan in 2016 when Magomedov handed him a defeat by split decision. Yan avenged that loss in their rematch 13 months later, which stands as the only defeat on Magomedov’s resume.
Considering he’s now signed to Bellator, it seems highly unlikely Magomedov will get the chance to settle the score with Yan in a rubber match, but he will join a growing bantamweight roster in the ViacomCBS owned promotion.
A new champion was just recently crowned with Juan Archuleta defeating Patrick Mix and a slew of top fighters decorate the Bellator roster including names such as Sergio Pettis, James Gallagher, and recently signed free agent Brett Johns.
There’s no word yet when Magomedov will make his Bellator debut but he’ll certainly add to the depth of the promotion’s 135-pound roster now that he’s inked a contract.
