Ortega returns to the octagon after the first competitive setback of his professional career, a failed bid for the featherweight title in December 2018 against then-champ Max Holloway. Ortega took a tremendous amount of damage before the bout was stopped at the conclusion of the fourth round, and he took an extended hiatus from the sport to rest, recover and rebuild his team. He was scheduled to fight “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung in December 2019, but the bout was canceled after he suffered a knee injury.
The talented 29-year-old hopes to reboot after his high-profile setback, and title implications are present in his comeback challenge, a meeting with “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung, who knocked out Frankie Edgar when Ortega was ruled out of their bout. Jung has knocked out his previous two opponents after falling in a “Knockout of the Year” performance against Yair Rodriguez.
