Muscle Building - Without Gear

Hi,
I have recently been involved in my first figure competition and loved it. I have been eating clean, dieting and prepping for a little over a year. I came into this sport after a long history of 13 years of competitive gymnastics followed by swimming and track. I have lived in the gym my entire life. This seemed like the perfect fit.

My question here is, I have a fairly decent muscle build as it is; however, I am interested in increasing them through a supplementation aid. I currently supplement a multivitamin, glutamine, glucosamine, vitamin D, vitamin C, garlic.

I have started on 100mg DHEA for possible testosterone gains. I am curious if there are other muscle gaining options that do not involve steroids. I have been looking at ZMA, DHEA, HMB, Tribulus, Ginsing, etc. I am lost as to where to go for information and hoping you all can help me.

I weight train 4 days a week, and do cardio usually HIIT 3x per week. I vary workouts about every 6 weeks, upping weights, changing sets, frequency etc. I life heavy, I train hard, but I am looking for something that may also be able to help. My diet is clean, mainly ground turkey, or chicken for meat protien, I take a whey isolate for powder, I eat broccoli for veggies, and some fats, primarily through nuts. I tend to stay around 140g protein 70 - 100g of carbs and 20-30g fats. I am currently 140lb, 5'3, and I am not sure what my body fat is. Hope that information helps. Let me know if you need anything else to help you, help me. Thanks!

its looks like you're only eating around 1000-1200 calories per day. If you are looking to gain muscle you should probably up your calories.

CLA is a good one that alot of women like. I also agree that you should slowly increase your calories and add in some clean carbs.

Welcome! I gotta agree with The Dude. I've been training with him for 4 yrs and I've learned a lot, one being you gotta eat more thn you think. That was a hard one for me, but I listened and he was right. Sounds like you're definitely on the right track. And I know tripwire mentioned it, but would you try IGF? I've been using MC's IGF and I've seen great results. Good luck and nice havin another girl on here!

Thank you for the replies!

It's nice to have some feedback and suggestions.

I have been looking into peptides a little. I seem to feel more comfortable with them than other options. I have been looking into GHRP-2 and ipamorelin. Any thoughts on these two?

I suppose I am intimidated by IGF-1 Lr3 because of the supposed increase in muscle growth at the place of injection. I may not understand it thoroughly as well, but the localization effect intimidates me a bit.

I will start to increase my caloric intake too. I really thought I was eating enough. A typical day for me is as follows:

Breakfast (protein pancakes)
3 eggs (lately it's been whole eggs b/c I haven't bought egg whites)
one scoop protein powder
one scoop finely ground oatmeal (appx 27g carb)
1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk

HIIT training 3/4 times weekly

Snack
Orange
protein shake (1 scoop)

Lunch
8 oz (weighed before cooking) lean turkey
1-2 cups of broccoli

Snack
Protein shake (1 scoop)
orange

BCAA supplement
Workout - lift
Protein shake

Dinner
8oz 8 oz (weighed before cooking) lean turkey
1-2 cups of broccoli

Also, I should probably mention. I am currently training for figure. w/ a small, yet growing, ambition to be phyzique - thanks to Dana Linn Bailey. I love the hard muscle look. In figure, I think Ava's look is amazing. I know it's a little harder than what the judges are currently shooting for, but I really like her shape.
