Anyone drive a Diesel. Im looking into getting another truck and am wanting a diesel. Just wondering how many miles you have on yours and if you have friends that have gotten some pretty high miles out of diesels. looking at one with about 170000 miles is why im wondering. Ive heard i can get from 350000 to 500000 from a 7.3l.

yeah, got a Dodge Ram 2500 6.7

if you get a diesel get it before they put all that environmental shit that kills the engine and mileage-EGR, DPF, etc

need to get delete and get rid of all that shit-put a tuner on it

I've got two Duramax Diesels.. they are awesome. I've removed and deleted all of the emissions stuff on mine and with a lift pump,.tuning, exhaust, and some other things I'm at about 530rwhp. I average 21mpg and this thing is brutally fast. They also run forever. I've got a couple friends with 300k on the clock and as long as fhe emissions shit is gone, they run like new or better.

Love the truck, thats a nice Duramax. I didnt mention but not excluding the Duramax, they are nice trucks for sure with the Allison trans in them as well. Had a Z71 previously and wanted something a little different. But in the end still may go back with the chevy. Still gotta get rid of the Suburban first though.

I would suggest a Duramax over a 7.3. They aren't bad, but it takes alot to get them to even 400rwhp. Duramax are easy and if you get one prior to 07 you'd have no emissions worries. Its a great truck. Mine still has the stock turbo and trans so I've got to baby it until the trans gets built. It will get sideways at 60mph. Once the tranny is built I'm doing twin turbos... I love these trucks. I'll get a new pic of Silk's truck soon. Just put in Recon Headlights on hers. Next is an exhaust and tune

Dude is right. I've had both the power stroke and the duramax and the duramax hands down. And in my current line of work, I'm surrounded by duramax daily, some with a half million miles. I've got a few newer trucks 2012+ that I deal with, that have over 300k on them, and still look and run like the day they rolled off the line. Only thing on the new ones, you have to add DEF occasionally. Not a big deal, but just something you'd want to keep on hand if you do over the road driving /hauling.

I wrote a long detailed post and I lost it. So summary....
For about $1500 - $2000 you can delete all the emissions stuff and buy an exhaust and custom tunes. With this you can make about 450rwhp with no other mods or 540hp at the fly which is how horsepower is normally stated... that makes for a hell of alot of fun... have you ever been in a vehicle with over 1000ft lbs of torque? There is really nothing like it

My next truck will be a Duramax.

I'm surprised you don't already. If you do, you better not do twin turbos before me... your shit is always faster. It's my turn now

I'm thinking Denali HD for mine. All the comforts and luxury, along with duramax/Allison strength.

met a guy in California that had one everything deleted including the DEF, think he had a EFI Live tuner-thing was 750 HP-said he could get more but he needed new injectors

had a Suncoast trans in it, guess those are suppose to be basically Allison on steriods

Those things are PIMP. I love the interior on the Fords too though. They definately did that right

I think it's Suncoast that is located a few hours south of me. Those things are bullet proof. That's where I'm going when it's time for a tranny (not the kind Presser likes). I'll never get anywhere near 700hp though. A stock short block isn't going to last long at that kind of power. Id love 625hp though. I think a a twin over the stock turbo and a built trans will be more than enough to get me there

what kind of tuner are you running?

Right now I'm still using an Edge Race CS. I got it used when I first got the truck for like $350 and it does full deletes.. The level 7 tune is 165hp and 325tq. I know EFI Live is better, but this thing really moves. It will be about $1300 to get EFI Live and an Edge CTS for gauges so I'm going to wait until after the trans is built. For Silk's truck EFI is the only option so when we do her tune and exhaust I will just have to add $300 to have tunes for my truck loaded onto it. So it will still be $700, but I can recoup $400 when I sell this tuner. I also probably won't do gauges for Silk's truck as it won't be near as extreme as mine
Wow how's that for a long winded reply to a 1 line question?? As you can see I'm really into these trucks
