Getting sick and tired of gyms

I am getting really sick and tired of gyms. I feel like I have to bring my glock with me to my local gym. The common courtesy once extended is gone. I ask people to work in and they say no. I want to just smash them in the head. I never hit anyone out of anger and do not plan to now. It just seems like I only enjoy the gym if no one is there. So If I do not go at 4am I miss that window. So I am thinking about just buying my own stuff. I have a 3 car garage and can convert one side. I have a life cycle and treadmill already and will just buy quality stuff. Thing is I have done this before and always went back to the gym. However then you could always go in the middle of the day and it was empty. No more I mean it appears no one works anymore. Just unemployed men hanging out. WTF, my exercise is therapy for me but this type of therapy I do not need or want. Anybody else experience this. :dizzy:

I've never seen or heard anyone say no to someone asking to work in. That's fucked up

yeah that's stupid, no one ever really asks at my gym, its more like are you still using this and if so go to another piece of equipment. I normally hit the gym late for those reasons though, I just don't like going when there is a crowd, I go around 9 to 10pm at night and its usually slow maybe 10 to 12 people max, and I love going at that time personally.

i am in the same position i have to go by myself but i have decided that im gonna find a lifting partner if it kills me... gonna go same time everyday and inch my way in lol

See im the opposite, I prefer lifting alone, I like partners on certain days, but my off days are completely unscheduled if I am hurting one day or something I will just take that day as one of my designated off days and work out again on a sat or sunday, I also kinda just wing it on my non busy nights, I may feel "in the zone" at like 8pm if im off work ill just go kill it, some nights I may not feel like it until 9 or 10 so ill go then. I would be a workout partners night mare.

Well, I am on now and I try to go when it s busiest (pervert), lot of chicks and believe me when u lift heavy even chicks look at u , may be in the mirror

I'm the same way myself now bro. I'm dealing with this wave of dick hole new age lifters that are just pricks dude. Like I had said, I saw a kid pick a fight with an old man not to long ago. I don't go to a Comercial gym and it's getting to the point where if I don't go at like 8 or so in the morning in I'm sol and even at 8 am there's still a different more stuck up crowd just less of them. It's killing me cuz it's one of the few hardcore local gyms near me and it's getting ruined.

That's really rude for someone not to let you work in. I always let people work in when they ask. I remember a few weeks ago an out of shape resolution er lady had an ex curl bar on the bench press. I asked to share the bench so I could bench press. Boy I had to work her to get it. Fn ridiculous. She finally decided to take her 20lb bar somewhere else. Dumb bitch probably didn't want to bend all the way to the floor to pick up 20lbs.

I've had a membership at a major chain gym since 1998. I'm courteous to everyone. I have had a difficult time lately with these old lady group fitness classes coming into the weight room thinking they own the place just because they are with one of the trainers. I pay dues just like they do and I happened to be in the weight room for awhile before you came in. Sorry, but I can't work all six of you old bitties in during my sets. One of them even asked me to use the equipment in the middle of a set of heavy bench press, blowing my concentration and everything. I'm always up for letting someone work in providing they are respectful and courteous to me and what i'm trying to accomplish. I tend to blame the trainers that are not teaching these people proper gym etiquette. Guess it's my fault for belonging to a FAMILY oriented gym vs one specifically catering to people who predominantly like lifting heavy. As for the douche bags, most of them leave shortly after my wife starts lifting with what they finished with :) I'm particularly fond of the type that stand six inches away from the DB rack to get in several sets of curls  Seems like respect and common courtesy are rapidly fading from many different groups. Funny how we're still looked at as the raging meat heads in the room when i'm sure most of us would lend more of our time to anyone that asked for it, as long as they asked nicely.

I feel you guys, the gyms of today are becoming ridiculous. So much disrespect goes on. I am just glad I have a small gym where I know everyone, and everyone knows me, so I don't have those issues.

I think I'm pretty lucky at the moment. All the long term guys give me the nod. And if they or me want to jump in its never a problem. Some people think I'm ignorant as I like to train on my own when I can and have a hoody and head phones on. But it's just that I'm doing my thing and don't fuck about. Once people get to know that, I can be approachable

I have to say I like the gym Im at currently except its a 45 min ride. I go around 7pm and almost always same 7 people counting me and lifting partner. 3 chicks on treadmills up stairs and 2 younger guys and they really only do bench and curls lolol. I have noticed the last few times they are watching us more and have incorporated new exercises into their workouts like last night we did good mornings and then headed upstairs for some kettle bell work. When we were leaving I noticed though the window that they were in the rack working on good mornings. I think next time I see them doing those I try to tactfully help cause one had his back curled over not a lot of weight but if he tried more weight just asking to get hurt.
