Quick update to say where I've been....been busy of late...

Let's see, in chronological order.....

Friday, July 24th:
I learned in the morning, that after a period of declining health, my grandfather, D-Day vet, Korean war vet and 50-years of service Scouts Canada volunteer, had passed away at the age of 92. In true Scouting fashion, he reached the end of his trail, and went home.

Saturday, July 25th, to Saturday, August 1st:
I was at Scout Camp, as I'm a Leader. Grandpa would have haunted me for all of time if I had failed to fulfill my obligations as a Leader just because he went home. In a way, it was a fitting way to say goodbye, working with the organization he loved so much that he served it for over half of his life.

OK...suffice it to say I'm back, and will try to get back to posting as soon as I dig out from my week-long back log here at work.

It was a busy life - He was one of the Canadian D-Day Paratroopers - not too many of them left any more...:(

Sorry to hear about your loss.
It would seem not only a loss for you and your family but also country and scouting organization.

He retired from Scouting after 50 years of service in 2006 - but he still cared for the organization. I still know quite a few people who remember him from *their* time in Scouting - He interacted with so many over the years...

sorry about your loss-92 is a long time to make it

glad to hear that he gave so much for what he loved

Sorry to hear this. Never fun to lose a loved one. He may be physically gone, but he's not truly gone. Just keep him in your heart and mind. He will let you know he's still with you.

One foot in front of the other fellas..just keep moving forward. We all lose loved ones, as I just lost my brother not to long ago and still dealing with that. They want us to succeed and do the best we can with our lives. leave behind a legacy.
