The 2021 International Powerlifting League (IPL) Drug-Tested World Championships concluded on Nov. 7, 2021, in Costa Mesa, CA, and the Masters athletes and Teen division athletes put on a show. Rudy Kadlub scored four world records in the Masters 70-74 division, 100-kilogram weight category, including a total of 579.1 kilograms (1,277 pounds). He was not the only athlete in Costa Mesa who upended the record books in his division.

Jack Bartlett competed in the 140-kilogram class in the Teen 16-17 division and crushed three new raw IPL world records, including a new all-time world record raw squat. Bartlett went a perfect nine for nine en route to his gold medal finish with the following stats:

2021 IPL Drug-Tested World Championships — Jack Bartlett | 140KG, Teen 16-17
  • Squat 317.5 kilograms (700 pounds) — All-Time World Record (Teen 16-17)
  • Bench Press 160 kilograms (352.7 pounds)
  • Deadlift 275 kilograms (606.3 pounds) — IPL World Record (Junior 15-19)
  • Total — 752.5 kilograms (1,659 pounds) — IPL World Record (Junior 15-19)
Check out all three of Bartlett’s lift below, courtesy of his Instagram page. The speed with which he performs his lifts are worthy of multiple replays. To reiterate, the speed he performs his 317.5-kilogram (700-pound) squat is the most weight ever raw squatted in at 140 kilograms in the Teen 16-17 division:

According to Open Powerlifting, Bartlett’s new all-time squat world record exceeded the previous record held by Max Shethar by 27.5 kilograms (60.6 pounds). Shethar’s previous 290-kilogram (639.3-pound) all-time world record was scored at the 2019 United States Powerlifting Association (USPA) Drug Tested Washington State Open.

Jack Bartlett’s Powerlifting Career
Bartlett’s young powerlifting career has seen him step on the competitive lifting platform in seven sanctioned events. His stats at the 2021 IPL Drug-Tested World Championships mark his competition-bests for each lift and total. Of the seven contests he’s competed in, he only failed to reach the podium one time — his debut at the 2020 United States Powerlifting (USAPL) Central Oregon Classic, ranking 14th overall.

After that, he ceased to lose, winning all six contests in the Teen 16-17 division and scoring runner-up finishes in the Open division at the 2021 USPA Drug Tested Platform Wars and the 2021 Drug Tested Oregon State Championships.

Bartlett works with Kyle Young, Assistant Head Coach at Kabuki Strength. Although Bartlett did not say when he would step on the competition platform next, per his Instagram caption, we can expect “Big things to come!”
