Have any women here had a historectomy at a slightly young age? I'd like some feedback.

I went to what I thought would be another 1/2 hour gyn appt where she says "I don't know, I'm stumped. Let's either try this or stay on that for now." Instead, she says "That's it, I'm recomending a historectomy. Go next door to the Gyn Surgen & set up a conseltation." I went, he squeezed me in & recomends a full historectomy.

I'm slightly shocked but also glad. This has been 10 - 15 yrs in the making.

my wife had one 12 years ago and has made her life miserable. the HRT is what really screws up a womans body and hormones..
get 2 more opinions and only then go for the majority rules.

My Mom had a hysterectomy at 38. She kept her ovaries, though, so that she did not go into menopause. If you lose the ovaries, you'll experience all the problems of menopause.

My wife had a 100% historectomy, nothing left, when she was 29. It was really hard on her, we had no idea what she was going to go through, nor did the doctor tell us until after. The HRT did not work....after trying many things she just gave up on that and quit taking HRT. she was put on prozac.....that crap is a joke!
as you gain weight on it and the more weight she gained the more depressed she became..... anyways its been 3 years now and things are better.... she still is not the same....but better then the first 2 years....

Prozac = A Doctors best friend! And also about the only thing some of them can script out. A lady at my gym had the same thing happen. Surgery, complete removel of...and then here is your prozac, because you WILL become depressed!
Good Lord, thats why so many M.D.'s are still "practicing"

here is something you may want to ask your doctor about......
one of the BIG problems with HRT is knowing how much estrogen and test your body is use to and what that blance is......maybe if you get all your blood work done and take samples over time you can find a good point for your HRT to start at......... it something we wish we had tried.

since my wife had hers, she has been on estrace or estradiol. she tried to stop a few times in the last 12 years , but the hormone thing got to be to much for her.
Good point with the blood work. that way you can get your base. and not overdose or underdose..

She had an infection of the fallopian (?) tubes. and the Dr. said she needed everything to come out. She was about 35 yrs old I think
