TRU bench press....

Alright everybody listen up!!!! lol What do u guys think of arching ur back when u bench press (bar)? Do u do it ?and what do u think about it?.... Also about arching and and ur butt coming off the bench. Same thing and if not what do u think about that. I've done both and i feel you can get more weight with an arch. But it most likely doesn't work your chest as hard.
 
Yes it does work chest as hard, it fact it isolates it, and those who do an arch will get their maximum results, I have seen some even take small balls and put in back to work the arch, and bench is a complete puzzle and one of the peices out, YOU DO NOT GET MAX. Like arch, sholder dlades together as cloase as possible, legs planted, ass down, then deep breath holding it till, upwards movments starts and than drive back into bench, shoving with legs, WITHOUT raising ass, this is basically how it is done, and take it from me, I compete at least 2 times every month, and am doing so this Saturday and expecting to do 526, ready for the kicker that will be a new APF world record, I am 47 at 242, yes and still rocking.......................

o yea, gotta have the arch...but u gotta keep your body tight, and your ass on the bench, chin tucked! You'll be amazed at how much more weight you can put up when you use good form on the bench press.
 
You need to arch to expose the chest and hit it. If you're flat on the bench, then your triceps and shoulders do most of the work. Make sure your butt is on the bench and squeeze those shoulder blades as close and tight as possible.

I see people put those legs on the bench, head rise up and back flat on the bench. Guess what? These guys got small chests lol
 
but daddycamp tilla is definately pulling his ass off the bench....someone told him it was cheating......someone who I know is right!!LOL!.....its cheating and thats why the Olympic comittee has made it criteria for DQ'ing people. Arching is good but turning your bench into a power lift is rediculous and hazardous to your health, compresses the discs in your back....and at 300+lbs on your bench thats alot of weight on those little guys.

moral of story...arch of back yes. but bouncing the bar off chest and thrusting into an arch is definately cheating...... tilla you asked for it and knew it was coming!`

hmm, i was always practicing good, flat form.. alot of guys arch in my weightlifting class, but i always thought that would be bad for ur back, ive always done it the flat normal way. guess i outta start arching it, or maybe just when i max.
 
I have to say that without arching my arms have been taking on more of the lift than my chest. Before when I arched, I would walk away with an awesome pumped up chest, now I hardly get the "full" pump before my arms give out.

Guess I'll plant my feet and start arching again! :laugh: Just when you start getting used to a "new" form, someone comes along and tells you your F*%king up!:suspect: :dizzy:
