Question for the ladies

I doubted the fellas caring about this stuff, hence the title.

I’m interested in what you girls do for skin care. What do you do to keep it smooth, bright, and free of wrinkles? I’m aware of the micro abrasions, skin resurfacing, laser treatments, chemical peels etc. (and as soon as I finish law school I’ll be glad to drive to Beverley Hills to do this crap) but I’m curious to hear if you have any “secrets” or whatever that keeps your skin looking its best.

tanning is awsome for your compexion and skin imperfections, but bad for wrinkles in the future. also alot of prescrition acne meds, reduce wrinkles big time and fine lines, such as retin-A, but cause major drying. i myself like to spray tan to give myself color, then tan in a bed cause it clears up skin imperdections and use in the morning a a microderm abrasion kit ( cost about $50 last a few months ) and then at night a sea silk mask ( $18 ) that has red algea in it to help promote the growth of new collogen and skin cells. thats what i do cause i dont live anywhere near beverly hills ! are you really in law school ?

GH is a great anti-aging supp. It stimulates collagen regeneration. I swear people say I look like an 18 year old at 30 years of age. My hair is thicker my complection is that of a glowing teenager. I do stay away from the sun or use an SPF when going out for long periods of time.

For acne I use any product that has salicylic acid. Olive oil because of it's ability to act as a carrier can carry essential fatty acids underneath the skin and help diminish the wrinkles by filling the areas withgood fat.

Sounds crazy but my grandamas 84 and doesnt have a wrinkle on her face.

For severe skin problems I would hit up a dermatologist for sure.

I used to be a rep for Christian Dior and attended a few seminars for training purposes, however the focus was more on color than skin care. BUT, despite the fact that i am HUGE Dior fan, i would only reccomend Clarins for skin care. While other lines invest millions in advertising and the color line, Clarins is by far the number one skin care line i would use. I am highly AGAINST tanning beds and skin exposure to UV rays and so that is really nothing more than a temporary quick fix with disasterous consequences. Most people go overboard in using tons of products hence the marketing hype everytime something new hits the line, but from my personal experience and the numerous beauty workshops i have attended, all you need is a good facial wash, a cleanser, a toner, sunblock (SPF 30 is what i use) and moisturizer. That's IT. You can treat yourself to a scrub and mask once a week which will rid your face of dry skin and help preserve its texture. But day creams and night creams are all a temporary fix...and a very expensive one. Make sure your beauty advisor assesses your skin type before recommending anything.

Spray tan all day. The tanning salons have the mystic tan now which is like an airbrush. The spray is rich in minreals and very skin friendly..and looks very natural if evenly applied.

DITTO!!!!!!! NVS is so spot on here I wish I could give her a gold star! LOL!! ;) While Clarins is a great product most people want something more economical so just visit your local CVS or Walgreens. I recommend Cetaphil for most people, especially men and it's really great for sensitive skin.

Cyphon is also right! GH is great for skin, hair, and nails, as well as having an overall sense of well-being. But it's not a necessity so use it if you can afford it.

Salicylic acid for any acne problems. Neutrogena has a foamy face cleanser and body wash that's good for shoulder and back pimples. Just make sure you use a good moisturizer afterwards because salicylic acid is a little drying. You can also get a benzyl peroxide spot treatment cream for those stubborn pimples.

Now on to my beauty secret.... BABY WIPES!! Yes, I use them immediately after a workout. Get the ones with aloe. I use them to exfoliate and immediately after my cleanser.

And NO tanning. It's so dangerous for the long term.

Neutrogena has a foamy face cleanser -------- yeah that stuffs the bomb a must have.

Do you use the baby wipes on squat days only or what? :)

Hey nowadays you never know what people choose to exfoliate.

Do you guys use those loofah sponges with microbeads to exfoliate?

I know that glycolic acid makes your skin renew itself 1 about 2 weeks faster than normal......I use that Glycolic renewal stuff that stallones wife sells on the home shopping network. Ive been using it for 8 yeas and the stuff is amazing for keeping you looking healthy.

i know tanning is totaly bad for you but i love it so much ! the mystics they have now though are way awsome for color but i love the heat of a warm bed, especially if your from a cold climate. cetaphyl does rock also, thats what my dermatologist has always recommended.

oh by the way thats cool your going to lawschool. so if i am ever in big trouble can i look ya up ??? lol

For Acne I use Panoxyl bodywash, and since it dries me skin out to some extent I use cocoa butter lotion all over my body.

this is a great post, with great info for all. I think too many people relly on the tanning beds and end up doing more harm than good. I just treated myself to a microdermabrasion session at a professional spa. It's pricey but it was worth it, i feel like it took 4 or 5 years off of the aging in my face although my wife says I look 10 years younger, she's drunk on love! They say that 6 or 8 sessions really do take years off and can completely remove acne scarring which I never had until I turned 35

Mike that's great you take care of your skin. Alot of men won't go to a spa for a facial or microdermabrasion. Let me make a suggestion.... get just one more micro treatment @ the spa... after that one you can really get a home version to maintain. You could do it every 2 days. I had old acne scars from my teen years and they are all gone now thanks to MDB. I got one treatment then started using a home version. I love it!!! I was able to cut back to once/wk after a month or so. My skin is so clear now.

ms. fitchica i am glad you shared personal experience, because i have thought of getting a professional service done but didnt know if it was worth the money, but it sounds liek it was. thanks for sharing !!!

Noel you will love it. Get a facial first though. I got an Aromatherapy facial 2 weeks ago then Tuesday I got an herbal facial. OMG I almost orgasmed! :dizzy: LMAO!!!! I get one every 10 days for a month then every 3 months I go back.
