Gainer Shakes vs. protein shakes

So lately I've been doing gainer shakes instead of protein shakes, b/c I have to get my weight up for football, I'm sitting around 232 right now, trying to get to 250 and higher, what's the advantages and disadvantages of gainer shakes vs. protein shakes and neg/pos of both, or should I incorporate both into my daily intake. Thx fellas
 
i make my own gainer shakes. using coffe grinder gring up quaker oats and put in a container. i use 2 scoops whey 50g/2 scoops oats 70g/3tbsp olive oil=850 calories x 4 shakes=3400 cals. it works well for me b/c i get nausea on aas and appetite suffers somewhat.
 
i have some procomplex gainer its by far the tastiest shake ive ever had in my life. Its the banana cream pie i believe and you can even taste like the crust i coule eat like 9 in a day haha. I havent takin it in a while as im not bulking thats for sure. But the sugar content is actually pretty low give it a try if you want i promise you will like the falvor.
 
Depends on what kind of weight you want to put on. If you are just looking for
size and weight go for the gainer. If you just want quality muscle then the
protien is good because it dosent have all the xtra calories that can turn to
fat. You need the protien to feed the muscle but too many calories will
will put on fat also. Like I said, if you just want the # on the scale then
get as many calories as you can in you - and then some more.

i will have to try them out gbart sounds good and i can always use some more size...
