Standing Military Press

Havent done those on a regular basis for a long time. Somtimes I used to do standing
behind neck to failure then push out what I could pressing in the front.
Dam, thats a good basic exercise - once my sholder gets back to 100% I think I'll
throw those in again. Thanks

yeah used to do them. stickn strictly to dc lifts for now. but made alot of gains with them and it also increased my seated military.

I do standing dumbbell presses. I recruit way too much upper chest when I do them seated.

I do standing behind the neck, I agree, great exercise, I credit most of my shoulder develpment to them. they can be a little dangerous, as I have strained parts of my back doing them so I sometimes have to back off the weight, but definitely a constant in my shoulder routine.

I used to do those. I'm doing military press on the smith machine now because of my shoulder. When I get my shoulder back to a good level, I'll go back to standing presses.

i dont like it. puts to much presser on the lower back. Prefer sitting... but maybe ill try standing if less than 225

Thats all that puts too much Presser on your lower back norm? I thought you just took some horny goat weed, cologne, and bathed in ground beef and Presser was all over your lower back anyways LOL

I knew you liked it from behind

standing dumbell military presses yeah, but not the straight bar... what's concidered heavy when doing standing dumbell military presses? ... lol ....

I used to do them but as said it does put a lot of stress on the lower back and I can't go too heavy. Straight bar or dumbells, but it does recruit a lot of extra muscles to keep everything stable. Watch out for injury with these, but as an adjunct to your normal shoulder workout they are great.

I hit them frequently while doing shoulders. I also like doing dumbells, one at a time, i feel like I'm not cheating when I go heavy by compensating with my stronger side or momentum. You can also do these seated do you don't recruit your chest into he lift.

Standing front millitary press is the only shoulder exercise you can cheat to get forced reps. I love em because once i've reached failure I'll bring the bar down to my upper chest and then kind of jump the weight back over my head with leg movement. Anybody else do this? with a belt and strict attention to to my back this is one of the best ways i've found to grow my shoulders.

Yeah the standing shoulder press is a good program. I'll be adding this to tomorrows routine.

i used to do it when i was strong. Maybe in a few months ill throw it in to mix it up again.

I'm going to try these again when I do my next shoulder workout. I'll have to see how well I do.

If you can do behind the neck, try those and when fatigued come down to the
front and continue to failure with those. I got those from one of the Olympic
weightlifting coach's years ago. My range of motion makes it hard to to behind the
neck sometimes but it did seem to work more of the shoulder. Give em a try for
variety.
