I've heard that testing total testosterone is really not an accurate indicator of testosterone levels. A guy at a lab said measuring free testosterone is 10x more accurate. For example, a patient may be on 150mg of test cyp, and their total levels will be high, out of the range, but the free testosterone levels could still be low or normal--in which case more testosterone should be added to their HRT.
That sounds correct to me. What do you guys think? I would guess that the rest of the hormone is bound so it doesn't have any effect?
I've tested high a few times, but I feel more normal when I'm on about 200mg/week, even 300mg/week. I'm going to dig out my last test to see if it said what my free test levels were and if they were out of range.
