Any of you guys do cardio for endurance? I know we all, at one time or
another, do cardio to burn fat but I am looking to build up my wind (endurance). Anyone do anything special just for that. I am thinking
mabey stair sprints. Any imput???

the best way to train for something is to do it.
you need to do endurance training, which isn't sprints. Its long runs, sometimes miles.

agree with dreww long runs. Im starting to run tomorrow ill see how my knees hold up but i need to get in some better shape. With winter ill be bulking so id like to get my body as healthy as possible before i hit the gear and the crazy amounts of food :).

I have to give another idea here. I personally saw huge improvments to my endurance by doing hit training. High intensity, short burst, for shorter duration of time. Start doing that for a while, and you'll have a hard time achieving the same heart rate at a normal pace.

I think Drew had the best answer here...

I've run for about 10 years now and I've run the NYC Marathon many times as well as the Chicago Marathon and countless other races. The best way to build endurance is to run long and run often. Building up your weekly mileage to where you're running 30 miles a week is a good start. You can also supplement the running with biking, rowing, eliptical etc. but the best thing for you is running. No matter what bullshit commercial machines they invent that say they're better than running. It's the only thing you do that you support 100% of your own body weight through the entire movement...

You can build up your endurance by running long but remember you don't have to run fast to build endurance. If your average pace is 8 or 9 minute miles when you run then to build endurance you can run at a 10 min. pace but just run much longer.

Sorry for bouncing around but I'm at a client, PM me if you want a program or link etc.

Indeed. I've been doing long runs for my cardio. I average running 10 miles a day, 4=5 times a week. What i do is start out slow, maybe an 11 minute mile pace for a few miles and then go faster as I get going, I'm a slow starter for some reason. By my 3rd to last mile I'm going 9 minute pace, then 8.5, the 8. The last half mile I just give it all I have got left in the tank.

My endurance has improved in a very short time. In the winter I was only able to go about 5-6 miles, and went at a 10 minute pace all the way through.

My longest run is 15 miles and every one in a while I only push out 7 miles or so. It depends on how long I have for my workout. But I ALWAYS start slow, and end strong.

running beats me up too much after a while. (I used to be a runner) All my old injurys
start comming back. Was trying to think of other ways to help endurance. Started
jumping rope again. If you never have, it is amazing how it works your wind. I know
running would be the best but anyother options you can think of?
